Act IV Scene I
I took a box down from the shelf in my closet
to remind myself that falling in love again is
stupid and performative.
I looked at all the recycled words that they said to me
and thought of all the words of theirs I stole to give to you
but everything feels new again.
My chest is on fire again, my heart is beating for something again,
I am new, I am alive, I am not alone, I am understood.
It feels just as good as every time and like every time,
a little bit better.
The one again. That's what I'll call you,
I don't know how many more times I'll do this,
and I guess it doesn't matter when I'm in your arms
but I can't help but think about how you learned to love like this.
